Council Declares Single Use of All Standard Tea Towels Now Compulsory

Single use tea towels

This measure, outlined in Domestic Edict 14β (Absorbency and Disposal), is designed to eliminate the inherent risks associated with repeated domestic actions.

"The re-use of a tea towel creates a statistical anomaly in the home environment," stated MDDE Chief Assessor Mildred Grime. "By drying a dish twice with the same cloth, a citizen creates a temporal loop of absorbed moisture, leading to uncertainty, ambiguity, and ultimately, a loss of municipal control over the domestic scene."

New Protocol for Disposal

Under the new edict, once a tea towel has been used to dry a single item (a saucer, a single teaspoon, or a solitary, compliant vegetable), it must be immediately disposed of.

Citizens must follow the new disposal protocol:

  1. Preparation: Place the used tea towel in a Grade C Municipal Isolation Bag (available at all civic supply centres for a mandatory fee).
  2. Tagging: Affix a completed Form 47γ (Wet Goods Cessation) to the bag, detailing the exact item dried and the precise time the action took place.
  3. Collection: Deposit the Isolation Bag into the designated Slightly Damp Refuse chute located at your nearest Municipal Waste Re-Categorisation depot.

The Dangers of Re-Use

The Council warns that attempts to wash or re-use a tea towel will be viewed as an act of Domestic Hoarding and Efficiency Evasion. Studies conducted by the MDDE have shown that re-used tea towels can harbour thoughts as well as bacteria, often absorbing seditious opinions from the air and transferring them back onto clean plates.

Families found to be in possession of a tea towel displaying signs of multiple uses (e.g., creases, mild discoloration, or a faint smell of cleanliness) will face compulsory attendance at a two-day seminar titled: "The True Cost of Lingering Dampness."

The MDDE expects full compliance and encourages neighbours to monitor one another for signs of suspicious domestic frugality.
